White haired, light skinned and red eyed, traits observed from the Eft Tribe of Bloodshore, Emerens' colouring traces its origins back to the early days of Miqo'te settlers. When his ancestors once called Coerthas home.His 'fur' is impeccably soft, with a slight curl to his hair that never seems to straighten. He possesses a particularly long tail, constantly groomed, which offers excellent balance.Of smaller stature, Emerens' clothing consists of form-fitting, revealing maroon cloth. Hinting at a relatively fit/toned and scarred figure — The most notable being from a large, diagonal wound across his chest; Much of his skin is covered in red tattoos and paint, some arcane in origin, whilst others tribal.At a closer glance, Emerens' right eye is of a lighter shade than his left. A result of aether scarring that removed its sight and original hue; Following the accident, only his left eye healed.
Personality
Raised in the streets of Limsa, Emerens possesses the zealous and extroverted attributes of any other Lominsan. Out of their other more less-than savoury attributes, he retains a sailor mouth and a tendency to be optimistically blunt.A natural speaker with a silver tongue; Emerens is just as capable on a social battlefield as he is on a physical one. He is confident in speaking his mind and keeping conversations flowing.Constantly surrounded by (and having occasional dabbled in) the debaucheries of piracy at young, Emerens retains a tolerance and casual attitude towards base and immoral vices. He is not averse to receiving the occasional compliment, as is his tolerance to the occasional tumble under the sheets, and often flirts with companions and the likeEmerens was at fault for his own eye injury. It was an embarrassing blotch on his career, and thus, he will refuse to speak of it should the topic be brought up. Many companions to this day are unaware of this defect, solely because he refuses to acknowledge it publicly.
History
Beginnings
Sired by a brood mother and a Nunh of the Eft Tribe, Emerens was born a second son of Bloodshore. Shy, quiet and just a tad bit too teary-eyed, he was adored by both family and tribe members alike.Following a comfortable birth and childhood, he displayed a knack for magic at a young age. Prompting his birth parents to send him to the Arcanist Guild in Limsa Lominsa at a mere ten summers to refine his talents;Join the Maelstrom and beat back the threat of Garlean occupation - An idle statement put forward by one of the tribe's own leaders after sending their own blood; It would convince many others to follow.
Emerens diligently began his training in the guild, a protege in his own right, and excelled greatly in all things arcane.An independent youth, he matured at a young age and took to handling his financial and living situation in between visits from both adoptive and biological family. His journeys to the market stalls were frequent, as were his arrangements with Lominsan levemetes; It is not uncommon for him to gloat about how almost every stall in the port city has received his help at least once.When times proved difficult and ‘ordinary’ work scarce, he was no stranger to posing as a courtesan and lifting coin from his 'customers'.Before he had to do any actual work, of course.
Injury
Emerens was injured at the age of sixteen after ignoring the physical signs of aether overuse via over-teleporting, which rendered him bedridden and briefly blind for a month. After recovering, only his left eye was restored whilst his right remained cloudy and discoloured.This incident proved to be a major roadblock in his career as a mage, and he struggled greatly in casting accurately with a single eye. Emerens became distant from his fellow classmates during this time, and his confidence subsequently took a blow at the fact he was unable to keep up with them.
Manipulation of aether also too proved difficult during his recovery, and Emerens dabbled briefly in the art of fencing and dueling once well enough to leave his bed. Said training would later assist in his journey to mastering red magic, under the tutelage of X'rhun Tia.Years later, this little accident of his would return to haunt him in the form of the Echo. Constantly afflicting him with headaches and nausea whenever the Mother Crystal deems it fitting to grant him a vision; Even simply wasting mana, or casting far too much is enough to leave him bedridden and ill.Though, no one needs to know that. Certainly not.
Warrior of Light
Everyone knows the story, or at least, somewhat. You slay a giant rock monster and suddenly you're affiliated with one of the most mysterious organisations in history. Then you slay a hellish beast summoned forth by the hopes and prayers of a desperate beast tribe. Rinse and repeat.It remained ever the same for Emerens, who slipped into his role as Scion and Saviour as easily as one slips into a coat. Fame and praise followed him into the Maelstrom, where he was briefly reunited with an old flame (victim) who turned out to be his Captain; To set himself apart from other Tias, he coined the name 'Emerens Karthain'. In honour of a favoured book.
From Coerthas, to Dravania, to Ala Mhigo and the Far East... And then to a different world entirely, the title of 'Eikon Slayer' has worn thin its welcoming. Where once Emerens held his head with pride upon the slaying of a primal, now his shoulders have begun to feel the weight of his exhaustion. The fame a poor comfort knowing his use as a weapon.The lulls in between great battles have found him wandering the streets and taverns of the world in shrouded secrecy, posing as yet another adventurer for hire. Or just another wanderer, in search of mischief, normalcy and perhaps a good drink.

His clan, well known for their riches, wines and pleasures, is the foundation for the vacation powerhouse that is Costa del Sol. As well as the rightful occupants of Bloodshore and Wineport.Perhaps you've visited. Perhaps you've taken note of the merchants, the jewelers, the hunters, the fishers and the pretty dancers with light hair and red eyes. Perhaps you've seen Emerens himself;Well versed in wines and vineyards, Emerens too can offer up suggestions created by his own family. And possibly provide connections to any inns, pubs or personal collectors interested in buying or selling.

‘Karthain’ is a fictional country from a book series Emerens enjoyed as a child, which he now uses as his surname.
Incidentally, most of his official identification documents still have him registered as ‘E’merens Tia’; He is too lazy to have them all changed at present.
Due to his past accident, he is often hesitant to use aetherytes. Wherever possible, he favours using mounts as transport.
Even then, simple trips in between shards and the like can cause him to have migraines and nausea. At worse, it can again, leave him bedridden. Albeit for a shorter amount of time.
These bouts of sickness also occur with the use of his own Echo. In comparison to others that possess the gift, Emerens is extremely sensitive to its powers. Even the smallest of glances into another’s past can cause him great pains, rendering him to a weakened/uneasy state in the aftermath.
The fact that he is unable to control when and where the Echo occurs leaves a bitter taste in his mouth; Numerous times has he endangered both himself and his comrades, solely due to being weakened moments before or during a battle.
He can swim, though hates being submerged in cold ocean/salt water. His Father had to toss him into the bay to actually get him started tbfh.
Can sleep ANYWHERE, ANYTIME. Don’t fight him on this.
